Leopard dies due to lung infection near Yekkapallay Village
Its body was not missing any organs, nor did it show any external signs of injury.
HYDERABAD: The leopard spotted near Yekkapallay Village of Lingampet mandal in Kamareddy district on March 24, was found dead on Monday. Officials of the Forest Department had been on the lookout for the animal.
Ch. Balamani, the DFO of Kamareddy, said, “Many rescue operations were carried out by a team from the zoo, local staff, base camp watchers, and the strike force. They set up cages and nets, but the animal wouldn't fall for the bait and kept hiding in the agricultural fields. Villagers spotted the carcass near a feeder channel this morning.”
A post-mortem of the animal was conducted by a local veterinarian and it was found that the animal had died of natural causes, due to a lung infection. Its body was not missing any organs, nor did it show any external signs of injury.
