Dayanidhi Maran has no immovable assets, cites CBI case in nomination
Dayanidhi has a Toyota Fortuner car valued at Rs. 13.50 lakh, 42 grams gold and Rs. 57,700 cash on hand, while his wife has 2,202 grams gold.
Chennai: DMK leader and former Union Communications Minister Dayanidhi Maran has declared movable assets valued at about Rs. 11.67 crore, including that of his spouse and son.
The 52-year old DMK leader, seeking election from the Central Chennai Lok Sabha constituency, stated that his income grew 64.79 per cent in five years. Charges were framed against him in the telephone exchange case by the CBI and that he has filed an appeal, he declared. The case relates to alleged use of telephone facilities above the entitlement and causing a loss of about Rs. 1.79 crore to the exchequer, he said.
In his affidavit submitted before the election commission while filing his nomination papers, he declared that his movable assets are valued at Rs. 3.65 crore, his wife Rs. 3.09 crore and dependant son: Rs. 4.92 crore and total Rs. 11.67 crore. As per the income tax return of 2013-14, his income was Rs. 1.72 crore which grew to Rs. 2.83 in 2017-18, a rise of 64.79 per cent.

During the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Maran had declared movable assets worth Rs. 10.94 crore - including that of his wife and children - and in 2009 polls he had declared Rs. 3.66 crore assets.
The value of the former Union minister's inherited immovable assets is Rs 59,000 and Maran's family does not have liabilities.
