Hyderabad: The construction of the bridge over Durgam Cheruvu Lake has commenced; and commuters are being advised to avoid the Inorbit Mall road and the TS Tourism parking area for the next two years.

Traffic is expected to increase on connecting routes, especially Jubilee Hills Road No. 36 and Road No. 45. The Traffic Department is working out alternative routes.

Mr Venkat Ramana, Executive Engineer (Projects) from the GHMC, said, “The work will first begin at Ambedkar University; and the bridge will end exactly in front of Inorbit Mall and merge with the existing road. The construction works will begin on either side of the water body; the two pylons will be constructed first. The bridge will have a footpath for pedestrians. Presently there is not much traffic as it is a water body zone. The cable bridge will be a landmark structure, and it will be illuminated in the night.”

Mr A.R. Srinivas, DCP of the Cyberabad Traffic Department, said, “Other alternative routes will be identified. The whole area cannot be inaccessible, because it would become difficult for those living around the construction site.”
