Yellow alert in eight districts

The sea condition is likely to be very rough and fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) has issued yellow alert in eight districts till Tuesday in view of the cyclonic storm developing in the Bay of Bengal. Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts would receive isolated heavy rainfall ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm on Tuesday.

On Monday, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram and Wayanad districts will receive heavy rainfall ranging from 64.55 mm to 115.5 mm. Strong winds reaching a speed of 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph may hit Kerala from Sunday morning and become squally wind reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph from Monday morning.

The sea condition is likely to be very rough and fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.

Fishermen who are out in deep sea must return to the coast by Saturday evening. The public residing along the coastline must move to safer locations, said the authorities.
