Shortage of drinking water in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: The citizens are facing scorching heat from last three days. The weather is again slowly turning hot after the recent rains.
Now the city temperature has been touching 43 degrees Celsius during the last three days. At one stage on Thursday the temperature touched 42 degree Celsius. Moreover, the heat waves also added to hot weather and citizens are facing summer atmosphere first time in this season.
People confine themselves to residences due to the hot weather. On the other hand, people in many areas faced drinking water problem due to a problem in the pipeline.
Areas like Gunadala, Gangiredduladibba, Vijayanagar Colony, Christurajapuram and several areas faced drinking water scarcity. The VMC stopped water supply to these areas for repairing the pipeline.
However, YSRC city president Vangaveeti Radha-krishna staged a protest and asked the government to release drinking water immediately. He said that the government failed to provide adequate water.
VMC chief engineer Shookur said that they stopped water supply to some areas after giving notice in advance. He said that the repairs would be completed Friday and water would be release immediately. Even there is technical problem he said and added that water was released in some areas but a few quantities.
