The Bescom helpline received around 20,000 complaints last week when heavy downpour crippled power supply in most parts of the city. The staff attended to 11,000 complaints. The pre-monsoon showers had damaged transformers, electricity poles and other equipment, causing a big loss to the department. The damage is still being calculated.
“A large number of citizens had complained to him about power outage in their areas and their inability to connect to the helpline. The additional lines to 1912 and the new mobile phone numbers will help Bengalureans file complaints easily. All steps are being taken to provide power to consumers without disruption,” he said.
