KOTTAYAM: For the first time in the state, a university centre is offering Yoga and naturopathy classes. The MG University will offer postgraduate diploma in the two disciplines soon. This centre could in future develop into a separate department. MG University vice-chancellor Dr Babu Sebastian said the University Syndicate had approved them. He forwarded the proposal to the academic council.

“The centre will start Yoga programme next month," he told DC.  The centre, now under the department of Gandhian studies, was established in 2016 for Yoga studies but didn't get the approval of the Syndicate. He said the beginning of the courses might help the university get special funds and research projects from the Union Ayush ministry.
