Bengaluru: Forest official to head farming mission
The state government has accepted the report submitted by Manoj on the use of Israel Technology Based Farming in Karnataka.
Bengaluru: State government has appointed senior IFS officer and Chief Conservator of Forest R. Manoj as Mission Director of Israel Technology Based Integrated Farming Mission (ITBIF Mission) Bengaluru.
Along with the new assignment, Manoj will continue with his current post of Managing Director of Rashtriya e-Marketing Services Private Ltd.
The state government has accepted the report submitted by Manoj on the use of Israel Technology Based Farming in Karnataka.
He compiled the report after conducting a study tour in Israel.
The report recommends micro irrigation system to conserve water. It also calls for adoption of poly house, net house, green houses to increase crop productivity and quality of the produce.
The committee emphasises converting more and more areas of canal based and tank based flood irrigated land into drip irrigation leading to substantial reduction in the use of fresh water.
