ANANTAPUR: Srinivas, popularly known as Anantapur Harischandra who performed final rights for more than 1,100 bodies at burial and cremation grounds in Anantapur over the past few decades, passed away due to Covid in Bengaluru late on Tuesday.

The 75-year-old was in the vocation for the past five decades. He had migrated from Adoni area in Kurnool district, settled down in Anantapur and pursued his vocation. He resided at 1st Road in Anantapur along with his elderly wife, who is in poor health. His son was in Bengaluru.

Harischandra was partially blind and blind in his right eye. He was the man for funeral at several burial grounds, including those of the Covid-hit. 

Seena alias Srinivasulu came to be known as Harischandra of Anantapur over the past many years. He led the cremation of bodies at 6th Road Burrial Ground till a few days ago. He performed the funerals for 1,100 bodies including Covid patients, Pandurangachar from APHB colony observed.
