Spurt in Covid deaths worries Kurnool administration
The daily count of positive cases followed the same trend as the total cases were at 1,12,228 with Thursday's 981 new cases
Kurnool: Deaths due to Covid-19 were slowly increasing compared with previous days in the district with six deaths reported in a span of 24 hours.
On an average, at least six deaths were reported every day over the past weekdays. The death toll since May 10 has touched 70, taking the overall count to 709.
DMHO Dr. Rama Giddaiah said when compared to last year, the second wave of infection has turned deadly with unknown complications like black fungus.
On the other hand, the daily count of positive cases followed the same trend as the total cases were at 1,12,228 with Thursday's 981 new cases. Around 1,03,991 have recovered while 7,528 are undergoing treatment across the district.
Though curfew measures are being strictly implemented, the rise in positive cases has awakened district officials, who are trying to examine reasons for the situation. On an average, Kurnool district reported 997 positive cases every day and at least six deaths in the past ten days.
District in-charge Collector S Rama Sundhar Reddy appealed to the public not to panic as the district administration has taken all steps to tackle the situation at any stage.
