BRICS Summit 2016 not shifted elsewhere, says Goa CM
A section of media reported that the event has been shifted to Uttar Pradesh.
Panaji: Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has refuted reports that BRICS Summit, scheduled in the state later this year has been shifted to another venue. A section of media on Monday reported that the event has been shifted to Uttar Pradesh.
"We have not received any such communication. I just read it in the newspapers and the news is false," Parsekar said on the sidelines of an International Anti-Narcotics Day event here.
Stating that Goa never bidded to host the event, he said, the state took the opportunity offered to it.
"The state is gearing up to host BRICS Summit and whatever is required for the event would be in place. BRICS will happen in Goa," the Chief Minister said. BRICS Summit, 2016, is scheduled on October 15-16.
