Chikkamagaluru: Two jumbos demonstrated their brute power by barging into a coffee plantation smashing the compound wall at Talavara in Mudigere taluk of Chikkamagaluru on Sunday night.

The jumbos did not stop there, they also brought down tall coconut tree using their muscle power.

The jumbos entered the plantation belonging to Manjunath Gowda after 8 pm and later made their way out, leaving residents fear-stricken.

The jumbos have also been sighted in villages such as Talavara, Hanumanahalli, Bidarahalli, Belagodu, Banahalli and others.

Residents say that the jumbos often stray into their paddy fields and destroy them at a time when the harvest season is round the corner.

They fear that their lives are in danger as the jumbos have been regularly straying into villages leading to human-animal conflict in the region.

They have sought immediate steps by forest officials to prevent the elephant from raiding their crops.
