Have a long list of programmes for Hassan: Rohini Sindhuri

Hassan: “I have done a good job in Hassan so far and given adequate time, I can do better work for the development of the district,” said Ms Rohini Sindhuri, who returned as Deputy Commissioner of Hassan on Tuesday after a tough battle against her abrupt transfer from the district in January .

Having successfully challenged her premature transfer  by the previous state government before the Central Administrative Tribunal and the high court, she came out strongly against frequent transfers of officers.

Speaking to reporters after once again taking charge as Hasssan Deputy Commissioner, she said, “Shuffling officials once in six months does no good. It becomes difficult to perform.”  

Justifying her decision to challenge her transfer from Hassan in January this year when she had served merely six months in the post, she  said there were guidelines from the Supreme Court on the issue but they were not followed.

On her plans for Hassan, she said she had understood its problems in the six months that she had spent there before being removed and  now had a long list of programmes for its development.

“I  understand the problems of the district, but it would take a new person a while to grasp things and he  would have to start from the beginning,” she reasoned. 

Ms Sindhuri was said  to have been transferred under political pressure from former district in -charge Minister, A Manju, who reportedly did not like her style of functioning.
