Tamil Nadu Agricultural University publishes admission list of UG top rankers

The male-female ratio of applicants is 10:13; 18,030 male candidates applied as against 23,560 women.

Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) published on Wednesday, its list of top rank holders for its Under-Graduate (UG) programmes. Scoring an aggregate total of 200 marks in the open category, Kannyakumari-based student, M S Revathy, topped the list. In the second place was R. Sivalini of Pudukkottai, with an aggregate total of 198.25 marks. Candidates M. Alan, B. Sripreethiga and K. Govarthan were ranked third, fourth and fifth respectively.

A source from the university shared that for the sanctioned student strength of 3,905 for the academic year 2019- 20, the university received as many as 51,876, of which 41,590 are valid applications. The male-female ratio of applicants is 10:13; 18,030 male candidates applied as against 23,560 women.

On the number of candidates who applied for various UG programmes, a source from the TNAU said that the university has seen an overwhelming increase in the number of applicants during the last few years.

"For the academic year 2011- 12, for a student strength of 1,365, the university received 9,652 applicants." Since then, following an increase in the number of applicants for its various UG programmes, the university has also increased its student intake every academic year. For the academic year 2015- 16, student intake was 2,240 and the university received a total number of 29,842 applicants.

During 2017- 18 academic year, the university increased its student intake to 3,260 for which it received 48,996 applicants. For the academic year 2019- 20, for a student intake of 3,905, the university received 51,876 applicants of whom 41,590 made payments.
