Studies to help improve power supply in Bengaluru
The study will be carried out at no cost to Bescom.
BENGALURU: As frequent and irregular power cuts are troubling Bengalureans, Bescom is trying different means to find a suitable solution to ensure an uninterrupted power supply.
Bescom signed an MoU with the International Copper Association of India (ICAI) and Power Research and Development Consultants (PRDC) to study and develop a model distribution system for Bescom.
The studies will be carried out on the existing feeders to derive insights into improving the quality and efficiency of power supplied by suggesting network improvements and to develop selected distribution feeders into model systems, in terms of efficiency of operation and reliability. The study will be carried out at no cost to Bescom.
The study will also focus on minimising technical losses along with reduction in transformer failure time. It will also focus on the safety of consumers and employees of Bescom.
A senior Bescom officer said, “The purpose of this study is to ensure that we draw suitable solutions to ensure that there is no interruption in power supply. The reason for transformer failures will also be examined and ensured that failures will be cut down especially during the monsoon season. Once the study is completed, we will know about feasible solutions to ensure smooth operation in power supply.”
