Patil visits industries, assures govt support for agro-based units

Hubballi: Industries minister MB Patil visited industries in Belur industrial area Gamanagatti, Mummigatti, Ithigatti on Monday. The minister has assured government support to those wishing to set up agro-based industries in their farmlands.  

Patil, who has been emphasizing the need to spread industries to regions outside Bengaluru, visited Infrafine Foods Private Limited in Gamanagatti, which specializes in fruit pulp extraction and exports to America, Japan, and European countries, Patil praised the company's impressive growth. He highlighted the benefits such industries bringing to farmers by directly purchasing fruits like mango, guava, and pineapple. Additionally, these industries add value to agricultural produce. 

“There are ample opportunities for agro-based industries in the state. The government will facilitate farmers if they come forward to set up such industries on their farmlands". 

Patil expressed government's intention to simplify the process of converting agricultural land for industrial purposes.  

The minister also visited the Hubbali unit of the NGEF. After visiting the unit, he said that a meeting will be held soon with experts regarding its revival. 

“The transformers manufactured here have been installed at Central Vista in New Delhi and are being used by prominent institutions such as the defense department and ISRO. But we needed to explore and create an expanded market for transformers produced here. The government is keen on its revival," Patil stated. 

He also received a memorandum submitted by the NGEF employees association urging for its revival and hike in wages. 

Patil visited Aequs, which produces consumer durables such as skillets, plates, and vessels, Microfinish valve private limited, and later visited UFlex in the Beluru Industrial area which makes packaging material for leading companies. 

The Minister said that the lapses in the single window system would be addressed to facilitate the setting up of industries in the state. 

KIADB Commissioner Mahesh, KUM (Karnataka Udyoga Mitra) Managing Director Dodda Basavaraju, NGEF DGM Naregal, and district officials of the department of large and medium industries were present.
