Bangalore University trifurcation: Special Officers bag Vice-Chancellors posts
Prof S. Japhet has been appointed the VC of BNU headquartered in Kolar.
Bengaluru: The government has finally announced the appointment of vice-chancellors (VC) to newly formed Bangalore North University (BNU) and Bangalore Central University (BCU) after a wait of almost a month since the official order on trifurcation was issued.
Incidentally, Special Officers, who were taking care of the administration of these universities during the trifurcation process, have been named vice-chancellors. While Prof S. Japhet has been appointed the VC of BNU headquartered in Kolar, Prof T.D. Kemparaju has taken over as the VC of BCU which operates from Central College campus.
Prof Japhet has been associated with the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) for over 25 years and has served as the chairperson of the Under Graduate Council at NLSIU. Specialised in sociology, he has also been working as a visiting faculty at foreign varsities, including Warwick Law School, UK and Indiana University, USA.
A former Coordinator of the UGC-NET examination and former Director of Planning Monitoring and Evaluation Board of BU, the parent varsity, Prof Kemparaju has also been in office as the Registrar of Mangalore University and is also a former Registrar of BU.
