Telangana told to give info on appointment of APPs

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday directed the authorities of TS home department to produce before it by August 1 the records pertaining to the appointment of four additional public prosecutors in courts of Ranga Reddy district.

A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice T. Rajani was dealing with three separate petitions challenging the panel submitted by the Ranga Reddy district collector for appointment of 13 APPs in the lower courts of Ranga Reddy district last August. 

Mr Ravichander, senior counsel appearing for one of the petitioners, submitted that the appointments were made in violation to the guidelines under GO 187 and also contrary to Section 24 of CrPC and in violation of Article 14, 19 and 21 of the Constitution.

H. Venugopal, counsel for Home department submitted that the appointments were made by following the guidelines under GO 187. The bench asked counsel to produce the records before the court.
