Bengaluru: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) has started work on shifting utilities around the Jayadeva Flyover as it gets ready to demolish the flyover.

In the first phase, demolition work on the loop of the flyover that connects Bannerghatta Road and Silk Board junction has begun. BMRCL, along with the traffic police, has mapped out diversions for motorists along the route and to facilitate the demolition work.

A BMRCL official told Deccan Chronicle, “We have already started the work for demolition and begun shifting the utilities as it is important to protect them. To shift high tension wires and others, permission should be obtained from the authorities and it involves too many tasks. We have got permission from all departments and shifting of utilities will be completed in a few days. As the loop is being demolished, motorists will be allowed to use the underpass in both directions and the main lanes of the flyover along Outer Ring Road from Banashankari to Central Silk Board."

Meanwhile, the authorities have decided to close the service road along the loop that is being demolished. Access will be given only to residents who have properties on the service road.
