Hyderabad: Deepthi Sree Nagar in Serilingampally was inundated. The GHMC in association with the Hare Krishna Movement distributed 3,000 food packets for residents in Miyapur, Madhapur, Hafeezpet, Chandanagar and other areas.

The prime reason for inundation is the encroachment of the nala. According to a GHMC survey, among those who encroached the 40-foot-wide nala that connects the Patel cheruvu and the Gangaram cheruvu are TRS members.

A few builders constructed multi-storied apartments and reduced the nala’s width to 6 feet. In Serilingampally constituency, from Deepthi Sree Nagar to Chandanagar, GHMC has identified 12 buildings, which have been built on nalas.

Over 15 years, residents of Deepthi Sree Nagar have been facing inundation due to the encroachment.

Meanwhile, a government school in Shamshiguda was shut down as rain water entered its premises. Knee-deep water was reported at Shamshiguda.
