Hyderabad: Heavy rains are expected in Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh till August 29. During the last few days, the south-west monsoon currents have been active over TS and Coastal AP.

The currents were strengthened due to the cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to be formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours which will strengthen the currents, leading to a heavy rainfall. Telangana is yet to cross its deficit mark. It has a shortfall of 9 per cent. If the heavy rains continue, TS will fall in the surplus zone.
