Cops record statement of Abdul Rahim again

Kochi: A day after the release of terror suspect Abdul Kader Rahim from custody, the police again recorded his statement after summoning him to Ernakulam central police station on Monday.

The court had sought the details from the police at the request of Rahim's counsel.
Rahim reached the police station along with his family around 11 a.m. and the recording of his statement continued till night.
According to officials, he was summoned to record the statements in written form. "There were also clarifications regarding the statements that were given by him on Sunday. The statements are now officially recorded in written words," an official of the investigation team said.
Meanwhile, police sources said that Rahim's business and stay abroad were under close watch of the police, although he was released after finding no substantiate evidence against him to prove his links to the militant organisation - Lashker -e-Taiba. Central agencies such as National Investigation Agency (NIA), Intelligence Bureau (IB), Military Intelligence and also Q Branch of the Tamil Nadu police grilled him on Saturday and Sunday.
It is learnt that the central agencies are continuing with the investigation and verifying his statements about his business abroad with the help of Bahrain police.
"They are also verifying his call records and travel details over the last few years," a source said.
Rahim was detained from the Ernakulam First Class Judicial Magistrate Court premises on Saturday after receiving inputs from the military intelligence that he was working as a facilitator for terrorist.
