Tirunelveli: Movable properties of the state-owned Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) office at Vannarapettai in Tirunelveli were attached by a local court on Tuesday for non-payment of compensation to an accident victim despite its order.

Arumugam (54) son of Sivasamy of Sathankulam in Thoothukudi district lost his right leg in an accident caused by the negligence of a Sathankulam-bound TNSTC bus on 2014.

Arumugam had filed a case at a Tirunelveli court seeking due compensation from TNSTC  and the court ordered the transport corporation to pay a compensation of Rs 7.70 lakh on January 19, 2015.

As TNSTC failed to pay the compensation amount, Arumugam again approached the court that ordered to pay the amount with an interest of Rs 2.25 lakh.

As the compensation amount was still not paid, the court on Tuesday ordered the attachment of the movable properties of the TNSTC office at Vannarapettai in Tirunelveli city.

Following the order, court officials along with Arumugam confiscated the computers, tables and chairs from the TNSTC office.
