Kalaburagi: 4 children charred to death

The keresone and petrol allegedly fell on the children, who caught fire.

Kalaburagi: Four children were charred to death in a fire accident at Fattunaik Thanda in Chincholi taluk on Monday evening. 

According to reports, the children had gone to a kirana shop to buy chocolates. 

Just then a kersone stove burst and the fire spread to the plastic bottles filled with petrol, which were for sale. 

The keresone and petrol allegedly fell on the children, who caught fire. 

While Preetham (3),  Ritika (3) died on the spot, Ritesh (5) died on the way to hospital.  

Later Akshata (5), who was shifted to the nearby Chitaguppa Hospital succumbed to her injuries.

The shop owner Veershetty Rathod, who ran out of the shop after the stove burst, tried to take his life by consuming poison. However he was rescued and rushed to a hospital.

Chincholi MLA Dr Umesh Jadhav and the Deputy Commissioner R. Venkatesh Kumar visited the spot. The police have registered a case.
