Taking an indirect swipe at the Union government, Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah on Tuesday asserted that the state government has been able to maintain the unemployment rate at less than two per cent when compared with the national average of 3.7 per cent. Speaking at a media conclave, Siddaramaiah said, "In the last 18 months, we have received investment proposals worth Rs 1.54 lakh crores. Over the past four years, Karnataka has created over 15 lakh jobs, bringing the state's unemployment rate to two per cent." He added that the state even tops the country in manufacturing excellence, with 32 percent of the manufacturing sector's share in investments, attracted by Karnataka. "Since innovation is integral to the ethos of this land, our  government is committed to harness the spirit and enterprise of young Karnataka, through a host of policy initiatives.”
