Abandoned baby dies in Krishnagiri government hospital
Hospital sources said that the baby died at around 9.40 am on Wednesday.
Krishnagiri: An abandoned male baby that was rescued on Tuesday with ant bites all over its body by local people, died on Wednesday at the government hospital here.
Police said the baby was found with the umbilical cord attached to it by locals in Anchettipalli village on the Hosur-Kelamangalam road, Krishnagiri.
It was surmised that the baby could have been victim of an unwanted pregnancy, and thrown into a bush either by its biological mother or her relatives, resulting in ant bites all over.
The underweight baby weighing around 1.6 kilos was handed over to staff of the Hosur government hospital where it was kept in the special newborn care unit.
Hospital sources said that the baby died at around 9.40 am on Wednesday. The baby was kept in the continuous positive airway pressure unit (like a ventilator) after it showed signs of respiratory distress.
Mathigiri police of Krishnagiri registered a case and are trying to trace the people who abandoned the baby in this inhumane way.
