Edappadi K Palaniswami flags off 370 new buses
Chennai has been allotted 30 out of the 370 launched today.
CHENNAI: Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Thursday flagged off 370 new buses purchased at a cost of Rs 109 crore for the State Transport Corporations.
Since May 2011, when the AIADMK assumed office, the government has inducted 13,253 new buses.
Chennai has been allotted 30 out of the 370 launched today. The State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) has been provided 65 buses, while TNSTC got 275 including Villupuram division: 27 buses, Salem: 57, Coimbatore: 104, Kumbakonam: 41, Madurai: 20 and Tirunelveli: 26 buses. The CM had flagged off five buses from the State Secretariat as a token gesture, an official release said.
Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, Transport Minister M. R. Vijayabaskar, Ministers and senior officials were present during the flag off ceremony.
