Decide on defectors by November 8, Supreme Court tells Telangana Speaker

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday asked the Telangana state Assembly Speaker to inform it before November 8 by what time he would dispose of the pending disqualification petitions filed by the Congress Legislature Party against seven Congress MLAs who had defected to the TRS.
A bench of Justices Kurian Joseph and Rohinton Nariman granted time to the Speaker when it was submitted by counsel J. Ravishankar appearing for the complainant Sampath Kumar that till now no decision had been taken by the Speaker on the petition seeking disqualification of the defected MLAs.
The bench asked TS Advocate General K. Ramakrishna Reddy, appearing for the Speaker, to indicate the time frame within which the Speaker will take a decision on the disqualification petition and posted the matter for further hearing on November 8.
