Puducherry: The BJP rule at the Centre would end in five months as the Lok Sabha election is on the way, said Puducherry Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy here on Friday.

The Chief Minister was addressing the Congress cadres protesting against the government's move to send CBI chief Alok Verma on leave and the BJP government at the Centre for misusing CBI for political advantages.

Hitting out against the Modi-led government on Rafale aircraft deal the Chief Minister said that The BJP-led NDA government had signed a deal with the French government to buy 36 Rafale aircraft at a cost of Rs 1,760 crore each, while the previous Congress-led UPA government negotiated to buy 126 aircraft at a cost of Rs 527 crore each.

"Congress chief Rahul Gandhi raised the issue and no proper answer was given to him. The CBI officials were transferred overnight to prevent an inquiry in the Rafael deal," alleged the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister said that the Central government has inflicted severe hardship on people through its policies and failed to deliver any promises given to the people during the election time.

"Rise in prices of petrol and diesel has come to hit the common man in the country. Demonetization  has led to the suffering of the people, and the value of rupee as compared to US dollar is diminishing day by day," said the senior Congress leader.

"Though Narendra Modi had projected himself as someone fighting against corruption, BJP ruled states in India are most corrupted now. Instead of focusing on that the Prime Minister is giving trouble to opposition ruled states using CBI ", he added.

On the other hand addressing the protesters here, AICC general secretary Sunjay Dutt who is in charge of PCC,  said that the CBI is been used as an extended wing of BJP by the Centre.

Lashing out against Lt Governor Kiran Bedi Mr Dutt said that the Central government is using Ms Bedi as a political weapon to control the dramatically elected government in the Union Territory.

At the same time Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee president and PWD minister A Namasivayam and  hundred others were arrested when they put up a road blockade at the Kamaraj statue junction here protesting against the arrest of Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi.

The Congress cadres demanding the immediate release of Mr Gandhi  put up a road blockade here. Police arrested and removed the cadres as the protest created a  traffic block in the area.
