CPM not to dilute its stand on Sabarimala
The party is confident that the stand taken by the LDF would be accepted by the people of the state.
Thiruvananthapuram: The CPM state secretariat on Friday fully backed the LDF government’s decision to implement the Supreme Court verdict allowing the entry of women belonging to all age groups in Sabarimala temple.
The secretariat felt that the current campaign required to be carried forward with full zeal and that there was no question of any compromise on the issue. The party is confident that the stand taken by the LDF would be accepted by the people of the state.
It firmly believes that there will be no setback because of the unwavering stand taken on the issue.
The CPM also decided to scale up the campaign to counter the Sangh Parivar propaganda against the LDF government. As part of the programme, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will address public meetings in nine districts.
The party has decided to organise padayatras in all Assembly constituencies. The ministers, CPM state secretariat members, MLAs and LDF leaders will head these padyatras.
The CPM will organise extended general body meetings in all districts to explain the government’s position on the Sabarimala issue. These meetings will be addressed by party state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and state secretariat members. Besides, the party is also planning area-level meetings and conventions.
The party plans to conduct house visits to connect directly with each family and explain the government's stand. Top state and district leaders will lead the visits.
The CPM is confident that it will be able to convince the people about the government's position. This arises the massive response to the public meetings addressed by the chief minister in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Kottayam.
