Hyderabad: RTC driver dies mysteriously

Hyderabad: A striking Telangana State Road Transport Corporation driver, who went to attend the final rites of his colleague, was found dead under suspicious circumstances at Narketpally in Nalgonda district, on Saturday morning.
According to the Narketpally police, the deceased person, identified as A. Venkateshwarlu, 53, a native of Kattangur village, was working as a driver with RTC at Narketpally depot.
On Friday, a driver, Jameel, of the same depot, died of cardiac arrest. Several RTC employees, who are on strike went to his house to attend the final rites and Venkateshwarlu was one among them. He had taken Rs 500 from his wife and left the home informing her that he would return by night.
However, he did not return home but called his family members during the evening, reportedly told his wife to take care of the children and cut the call.
Venkateshwarlu, a father of two, had married off his daughter by taking loans. He was facing financial issues and also did not receive his salary for the month of September, like all other employees on strike.
He was also said to be under stress with the ongoing issues around the strike.
On Saturday morning, locals noticed Venkateshwarlu’s body by the roadside, on the outskirts of Narketpally. They alerted the local police who rushed to the spot and sent the body for the post-mortem examination (PME) at a government hospital.
When contacted, the Narketpally police said that a case of suspicious death has been registered and only after receiving the PME report, they would be able to confirm the reason of death.
