Thiruvananthapuram: Protesting against the "politics of violence" and demonetisation of high value currency notes, a local RSS leader on today joined the CPI(M), snapping his four-decade long links with the sangh parivar.
P Padmakumar, who had served as the state secretary of the 'Hindu Aikya Vedi', told reporters here that he had decided to join the ruling CPI(M) in the state, after being fed up with the "political violence" and "inhumane stand" of the BJP-RSS.
"How many families have been orphaned due to the inhumane stand and politics of violence of RSS-BJP?" he asked.
Padmakumar met the media along with CPI(M) district secretary, Anavoor Nagappan.
"I was against the inhumane attitude of RSS and its politics of violence. The demonetisation of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 was the last straw and I decided to quit the outfit," he said.
Nagappan said Padmakumar has been given party membership.
