Land survey in Telangana shows 2l cases with anomalies

It was found that over 5 lakh acres has been inflated in revenue records which never existed in reality.

Hyderabad: The ongoing land survey in Telangana since September 15 has exposed over 2 lakh cases involving irregularities in extent of land so far. 

It was found that over 5 lakh acres has been inflated in revenue records which never existed in reality. 

Officials expect this to increase to over 7 lakh acres when survey is completed by December 31. Officials were shocked to find a huge extent of land was inflated in revenue records to secure crop loans from multiple banks.

Large scale manipulations were noticed wherein the numbers mentioned in revenue records, pattadar passbooks have been manipulated to increase the extent of land in lakhs of survey numbers. As per revenue records, TS has a land holdings extent of 2,40,68,290 acres covering 1,78,59,558 survey numbers.

The land extent in 1,00,83,799 survey numbers amounting to 1,36,43,419 acres has been verified till date. Of this, 88,34,722 acres in 70,52,435 survey numbers have been found to be correct. Anomalies were found in 48,08,997 acres in 30,31,454 survey numbers. 

About 3,12,500 acres in 2,29,642 survey numbers were found to be converted into non-agriculture purposes while they continue to be shown as agriculture lands.
