Kochi: UDF loses majority in Thrikkakara

Kochi: Thrikkakara municipality witnessed high-voltage political drama on Monday  with the UDF losing its majority as the council passed the no-trust motion the LDF moved against vice-chairman Sabu Francis with the support of a Congress member  Sheela Charu who defied the party whip to abstain from voting.

The UDF is planning to move the Election Commission against Ms Charu under the anti-defection law. The no-trust motion against municipal chairperson M.T. Omana will be taken for discussion and voting on Tuesday.

The UDFD wrested power in the municipality from the LDF in April this year.
