Vijayawada: 3K rally taken out on Constitutional Day

Vijayawada: As part of the Indian Constitutional Day celebrations, a 3K rally was organised at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium in Vijayawada on Monday by the SC, ST Commission. Hundreds of people of Vijayawada city, including children and the elderly, enthusiastically participated in the rally from the stadium to Benz Circle.
The rally was flagged off by SC, ST Commission chairman Karem Sivaji along with district collector B. Lakshmikantham.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Mr Sivaji said “Social, political and financial inequality should be abolished in society for the bright future of the citizens. The government should take action to ensure social equality as desired by Babasaheb Ambedkar.”
He said that to recall the greatness of the Indian Constitution which is the most exhaustive on the globe with 465 articles, all Indians celebrate Constitution Day every year on November 26.
Mr Sivaji said that from January 26, 1950 the day the Constituent Assembly adopted it, the Constitution has been supreme, beyond caste, religion or region.
On the occasion, Mr Lakshmikantham said that the Indian Constitution was approved on November 26, 1949 and adopted from January 26 1950.
“Indian Constitution is the largest with Fundamental Rights, Directive Principle and Preambles. BR Ambedkar was called the architect of the Indian Constitution while Ram Manohar was known as the Illuminator of Constitution,” the collector said.
Social Welfare JD C.S.A. Prasad, district BC welfare officer Satyanarayana, ST welfare department officer Eswara Rao and others were present.
