Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Monday directed the AP State Level Police Recruitment Board to allow certain constables in Telangana state who had moved court for permission to attend the physical test scheduled to be held on December 29 for recruitment of sub inspectors.

A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice A. Shankar Narayana was dealing with two separate petitions by M. Shiva Reddy and 69 others and S Subrahmanyam and Venkata Ratnam Gunda-la from Kadapa district.

The petitioners told the court that they were appointed as constables in combined AP and were posted in Hyderabad though they hailed from the Andhra region. They had also qualified in the written test.

They said the AP State Level Police Recruitment Board had issued a notification on September 17 for the recruitment of sub-inspectors in the special category of police executive. The board had stated that only constables working in AP were eligible to participate in the recruitment.

While granting the interim order, the bench directed the respondents to file their counter affidavits.
