Drunk driving check on New Year evening in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad traffic police will carry out special drunk driving tests throughout the city on New Year eve. 

The drive will be conducted from 10 am on December 31 to 5 am on January 1. As many as 100 stationary, mobile and decoy teams will be deployed which also videograph the checking for evidence. All vehicles caught during the check will be seized and the drivers detained on the spot.

In 2016, over 7,500 individuals were imprisoned for drunken driving with jail term from one day to 15 days, while about 2,500 drunk drivers were booked in 2015.

As many as 957 drunk drivers, including one woman, were caught on New Year’s eve in 2017.
