Police officials have their hands full for 2019

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police plans several initiatives in 2019, including the launch of a City Rapid Action Force, which will have 20 men and 20 women, specially trained for three months to attend to distress calls.
“We have a three-pronged approach: achieving real time information through convergence with major stakeholders including courts, Forensic Science Lab (FSL), etc., to the police station level, enhancing citizen friendly and community participation and building the capacities of city police officers to be smart and tactical so as to build trust amongst the public and reach their expectations,” Hyderabad police commissioner Anjani Kumari said
Other initiatives lined up for 2019 include construction of a new building for officers and barracks for staff, completion of the Integrated Command and Control Centre, all police stations to be linked to courts, total integration of prosecution and courts, FSL, prisons, and Fingerprint Bureau, electronic delivery of summons, warrants through smartphones, Intelligent Traffic Management System to be implemented, automatic number plate reading cameras to be activated, optimisation signal timing based on volume of traffic, swifter incident management — improved response time, variable messaging boards, upgradation of communication network, upgradation of Dial 100, location of caller to be transferred to labs.
“There will be a reduction in road accidents. We are also extending the Women on Wheels initiative to all police stations. Measures will be taken to prevent trafficking of children for the sex trade,” the commissioner said. He said the police will put the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network Systems (CCTNS) to use and cyber labs will be updated.
"Online permission for events will be available. Noise pollution will be controlled. Latest equipment will be given to the Clues team, additional training will be given to staff to become self-dependent. We are also developing an app for senior citizens," he said.
