BJP functionary found hanging in Tirupur

Tirupur: A BJP functionary was found dead, his body hanging from a tree under suspicious circumstances in Tirupur on Friday and with his legs and hands tied. A desecrated portrait of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi was found near the body.
According to police, Marimuthu, 51, vice-president of Tirupur North district of BJP and a resident of Muthannampalayam, has been running a garment business.
This morning, his body was found hanging from a tree in his farm adjacent to his house. He used to go to his farm early every day, but today he did not return home, police said.
Marimuthu’s wife Pushpa, who went in search of her husband, found his body and alerted the police. They in turn recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem. Police also found a portrait of Prime Minister Narendra Modi garlanded with footwear near the scene of occurrence. A note found there read, ‘TPR 12345’ in which numeral ‘3’ was struck out.
The Tirupur Rural police registered a case of suspicious death. “Police are yet to conclude whether it is a murder or suicide. Based on the post-mortem report, further investigations would be launched,” a police official said.
