Bengaluru: The much-delayed underpass near Vivekananda College, which is part of the signal free corridor (SFC), should be completed by March end and must be thrown open to public use, directed Mayor G. Padmavathi on Friday.

While inspecting the progress of works on SFC, she said that there were some hiccups with acquiring a portion of hospital land for the underpass near Vivekananda College on Dr Rajkumar Road. However, contractors have been directed to ensure that the project does not suffer, she said.

Since Dr Rajkumar Road is one of high-density stretches, directions have been issued to complete both the main carriage way of the underpass and service roads by March.

The project cuts through Dr Rajkumar and Rajajinagar wards. Two underpasses and two overpasses are being constructed in each of the wards. Although Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had flagged off the Rs 90 crore SFC project, the work has not commenced. Now, directions have been issued to expedite and complete the work by August-end, she said.

Dr Modi Hospital Road is being upgraded to TenderSure standards and it will be completed by February, she said.
