Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Friday warned of initiating contempt proceedings against Adityanath Das, principal irrigation secretary of the undivided AP state for misleading the court. A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice M.S. Ramachandra Rao, while dealing with a contempt petition filed by one Ch. Srinivas of Khammam, pointed out that the official did not furnish correct details of water being drawn by Bhadrachalam Paper Board, ITC Ltd. from Godavari river at Bhadrachalam.

The bench pointed out that it had clearly directed the official to inform the court about the exact quantum of the water being drawn daily by the company and the permission granted for the government to draw the water. Counsel representing TS, while stating that it was a contempt case filed in the year 2013, urged the court to grant some time to file an affidavit with correct facts and figures. While considering the request, the bench gave two weeks to the state to place the relevant facts of the case.
