Vijayawada: Licence renewal delay hits dealers
Dealers and manufacturers are alleging that the legal metrology department has stopped licence renewals unilaterally.
Vijayawada: Renewal of licences for weighing scale manufacturers, dealers and repairing agents has created a row. The JAC of dealers and manufacturers are alleging that the legal metrology department has stopped licence renewals unilaterally. They claim that because of the inordinate delay in issuing licences business is getting hit. According to P. Srinivasa Rao, licences should be issued within a month of submission of documents but some of them are waiting for over 13 to 14 months.
He said that some officers in the department, who expect personal gains, are intentionally delaying the issuance of licences. Mr Srinivasa Rao also alleged that the officers who are supposed to conduct field visits are sending the unskilled low cadre workers to do the job. However, the assistant commissioner of legal metrology K. Vijayanand Raj Kumar said that the license renewal process was entirely online procedure and the officers have nothing to do with it.
“Anyone will get the license if they submit all the required documents. There have been technical difficulties from the past one month with server due to which nearly 80 licences were delayed out of 320,” he said.
