The family members of the victims who were hoping that the accused, Marri Srinivas Reddy, 27, would get the death penalty left disappointed.

Hyderabad: The verdict in the rape and murder of three minor girls at Hajipur was posted to February 6 by the Nalgonda fast-track court on Monday. The court said that the judgment, which was to be delivered on Monday, was not ready.

The family members of the victims who were hoping that the accused, Marri Srinivas Reddy, 27, would get the death penalty left disappointed.

The fast track court had on January 17 posted the judgment to January 27. The accused was on Monday he was brought from Nalgonda district jail and produced before the court.

Srinivas Reddy and all the victims belong to Hajipur in Yadadri Bhongir district.

He was arrested on April 30 for kidnap, rape and murder of two minor girls and kidnap and murder of another minor girl.

The villagers had vandalised his house and set it ablaze. For the last eight months, his family has abandoned the house.

Speaking to the media, a villager said, “None of the family members of Srinivas Reddy have come back to the house. Now the girls in the village feel safer. About 12 cameras have been installed and two buses have been arranged to the village. People like him should face severe punishment.”

The elder sister of one of the victims, said, “My sister went missing on April 22, and her remains were found in the same month. He (Srinivas Reddy) was arrested long ago but he is not yet hanged. How many girls should suffer like my sister? People like him will do such offences if they are set free, and we demand the death penalty.”

“The families of victims would get justice only when the accused is hanged to death. People of the village will feel safe only after his death,” another villager told media.
