Rajahmundry: 2,500 medical posts to be filled soon

Rajahmundry: Principal Secretary to Medical and Health Department Punam  Malakondaiah said that 500 doctors posts and 1,000 nurse posts would be filled up soon to cater to the needs of people in the state.

Reviewing the progress of department in West Godavari on Sunday, she said that 200 specialist doctors, 200 gynaecologists, 50 children doctors and 50 anaesthesiologists  and  1,000 nurse posts and 1,500 paramedical staff would be filled up. She appreciated the collector Katamneni Bhaskar for his efforts in reducing infant and maternal mortality rates.

She advised the medical and health personnel to encourage institutional deliveries, particularly in the hospitals at Buttayigudem, Denduluru, Achanta and Penugonda areas. She said that 18 doctor posts would be filled up in West Godavari.

She suggested the district officials to launch sophisticated medical treatment by making use of new building, especially for gynaecology  and paediatric wings built at a cost of Rs 10 crore by facilitating 1,000 beds and ultra sound scanning. She said that district headquarters hospital at Eluru would be developed as a  model hospital in the state.

She said the government was making efforts to develop all hospitals in the state on par with corporate hospitals. She said that quality control managers, office administrators, instructors and other employee services would be utilised for proper maintenance of the hospital.

The colours of bed sheets would be changed every day for maintaining cleanliness. She said the doctors should work with commitment and dedication without giving a scope for allegations.
