Andhra Pradesh urged to exert pressure on Centre find a solution
Railway officials were initially willing to accept the new zone without Waltair division and KK line.
Vijayawada: The AP government, MPs and AP BJP leaders have neither come to terms with the ground realities so far nor have taken any steps to find a solution to the zone formation conundrum.
Railway officials were initially willing to accept the new zone without Waltair division and KK line, and were willing to take up a struggle later for their merger into the new railway zone.
This view changed later and now they insist that Waltair and KK line should be part of the new railway zone or they should be delinked from the ECR and merged into the SCR.
Union leader Ch Shankar Rao said that one of the two options is the only way to resolve the problem and get approval for the railway zone.
“The AP government should exert pressure on the Centre and find a solution,” said SCR employees leader B. Chalapathi Rao.
Former Zonal Railway Users Committee member Shaik Allauddin said freight movement would increase in the near future.
