No power tariff hike for now: TSERC

It said that TS Discoms have sent a letter requesting continuation of the existing tariffs and cross subsidy surcharge.

Hyderabad: There will be no hike in power tariffs from April 1, as dreaded by consumers across the state.

The TS Electricity Regulatory Commission on Monday issued orders that the present power tariffs will continue to be applicable from April 1, 2017.

The ERC said that TS Discoms are entitled to levy the same till such time the commission determines the Retail Supply Tariff and Cross Subsidy Surcharge for 2017-18. Any new tariff, or change of tariff, will into force with the passing of the order for 2017-18.

It said that TS Discoms have sent a letter requesting continuation of the existing tariffs and cross subsidy surcharge. TSDiscoms also requested extension of the deadline for filing of tariff proposals till April 15, 2017. In the GO, the ERC said that it has carefully considered the request and issued orders on continuation of existing tariff from April 1, 2017.
