Telangana: BJP to pursue spotted deer poaching case
Incidentally, Congress and TD have also backed the issue.
Hyderabad: Killing of two spotted deer in Palimela forests of Mahadevpur mandal in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district has taken a political turn.
BJP Floor leader G. Kishan Reddy, who moved an adjournment motion in the Assembly on the issue on Monday, the last day of the Budget session, alleged that the TRS government was trying to shield bigwigs involved in poaching.
“We will pursue the case like it was done in actor Salman Khan case and see that the guilty are punished. Police made three arrests post haste and sent them to jail. No one knows who they are. Akbar Khan, husband of a ZPTC, is shown as accused No. 1,” Mr Kishan Reddy said at Assembly media point.
He said police acted only after he raised the issue four days ago, but attempts were made to save a TRS leader.
“There should be a high-level inquiry and stringent action must be taken against the culprits. The culprits reportedly threatened forest officials with guns. Why is the government silent when officials were threatened? I have collected enough evidence and if the government fails to act, I will move court,” Mr Kishan Reddy cautioned. Incidentally, Congress and TD have also backed the issue.
The BJP leader said when the culprits threatened government officials that they would kill them, the police should have booked cases under IPC 307.
“Why are they dragging their feet on such a serious issue? It’s clear that ruling party leaders are involved and there have been calls to forest officials from Hyderabad which has to be made public,” Mr Kishan Reddy said.
