Anantapur: Celestial wedding to be held in open space
Security tight for the event to be attended by VVIPs.
ANANTAPUR: Elaborate arrangements are being made for the celestial wedding of Lord Srirama and Goddess Sita at the historic Kodandarama Swamy temple in Venotimitta in Kadapa district scheduled on March 30. TTD deputy EOs Vijaya Sarathi and Devendra Babu along with revenue officials were making necessary arrangements for the event to be held in the open adjacent to the temple.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to offer talambralu and silk clothes to the deity. Though, celestial wedding is being held on the day of Srirama Navami at Bhadrachalam in Telangana, the centuries old tradition continues even after the government opted Vontimitta for Navami celebrations four years back after the state division. About five persons will take part in the event. About 2 lakh packets of mutyala talambralu are being prepared with the help of 380 volunteers in the temple premises, TTD official Ravi said.
Kurnool DIG Gattamaneni Srinivas and Kadapa SP Babuji Adda inspected the Vontimitta temple premises and reviewed the security measures on the day of celestial wedding. In view of chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, deputy chief minister K.E. Krishna Murthty and a number of ministers, MLAs, MPS and other representatives scheduled to take part in the event on March 31 night, SP Babuji Adda said elaborate security arrangements were being made for the occasion.
Kadapa ASP Srinivasa Reddy said about 280 community police offers will be put into served during the celestial wedding and other occasions at Vontimitta temple.
