Centre will resolve Cauvery crisis in 3 days: BJP
She expressed the hope that the Central government would work out a pragmatic solution within three days.
Chennai: Facing the heat from Opposition parties in Tamil Nadu on the Cauvery issue, the BJP has blamed the DMK and the Congress for their “inaction” that has precipitated the crisis.
While State BJP president Dr. Tamilisai Soundarajan claimed the opposition parties were “politicising” the issue, Union Minister of State for Finance and Shipping Pon Radhakrishnan taunted the DMK and Congress saying that he would organise a special flight if DMK working president and TNCC chief Su. Thirunavukkarasar come forward to hold talks with Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to resolve the issue.
Dr. Tamilisai who formed a three-member committee under party’s Rajya Sabha MP L. Ganesan, said the committee would submit a detailed report to the Centre tomorrow, highlighting TN’s concerns. “There would not be any setback in ensuring the rights of TN on the Cauvery issue. The Centre is handling the issue cautiously so that none of the four States depending upon Cauvery river water, get affected in any way. We will get good results in three days,” Dr. Tamilisai said on Tuesday.
On the DMK working president M. K. Stalin blaming the Centre, she said had the DMK and Congress acted prudently when they were in power, TN would not be facing the crisis now. “The name (Cauvery Management Board) is not important what should be of significance is TN should get the water due for it. Let the Centre form any committee for that matter, TN should get Cauvery water. The opposition parties should stop harping on the constitution of CMB and accept the Centre’s decision,” she said.
She expressed the hope that the Central government would work out a pragmatic solution within three days. “Political parties in Tamil Nadu should desist from politicising. TN will get the Cauvery water,” the BJP president said.
