Chengannur poll dates not yet out

Thiruvananthapuram: The Election Commission’s failure to announce the date of the Chengannur by-election has disappointed the  candidates and their supporters who have been sweating it out in the hot season. Election Commissioner O. P. Rawat told reporters in New Delhi on Tuesday that Karnataka Assembly election  will be held on May 12 and the counting on May 15. He said  the by-election date will be announced separately.

"We don't declare by-elections with general  elections,"  he  said.  Chengannur UDF candidate D. Vijayakumar  told DC that the Election Commission should take into  consideration the scorching  summer season while fixing the date.
